As spring is here.....

Did you know that we have a very own small nature reserve?  It is managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust and more information can be found here.

A short (newspaper) history of the village hall

Our little shop is in the premises of the old village hall, it was built by Sir James Hill, Baronet and Lady Hill, and according to the plaque on the hall, the clock was added in 1935 to celebrate their diamond wedding.

It is rhubarb season and we have some locally grown available.... did you know that orange is a good partner?  So how about cooking it in a drop of orange juice or even adding an orange.

We have leeks and onions in the Country Matters Hexton and they are local, so all the better for getting those miles reduced.  I made these recently and they were lovely, I couple them with some homemade chutney - also in the shop, and some cheese and salad.
